SteekPosted by Peanut in Knitting , Colourwork |
I cut my first steek.
If you haven't come across it before you should know that steeking is when you make a beautiful piece of knitting and then cut it open with a pair of scissors. Eek! Sounds scary but it means you can do some pretty fancy looking colourwork without having to purl back along the wrong side. They can also be a great way avoiding having to purl. This steek was particularly beginner friendly since I didn't have to secure it. Instead the fabric gets ravelled out and blocked smooth again and braided into ties to hold this cute little hood onto Maisie's head.
Now I just need to make some pompoms.
