I started some new socks today. I know. I know. I've got three other pairs on the needles (in fact all of my 2.00 mm needles are in use right now) but I'd been waiting to start this pair for almost a month and when my yarn arrived I wasn't going to put them off any longer.
Here is "Orange You Glad" in Socks that Rock Lightweight; my colour choice for the Solstice Slip (Ravelry link) knit-along that's currently going on in the Socks that Rawk! group. So far I smile every time I look at my yarn. It's just such a bright, cheerful colourway. Perfect for the coldest part of the winter.
My yarn arrived last night and I waited until lunch time today to take a picture of it before winding it up and putting it in my purse (along with the pattern and needles). My afternoon at work was soooooooooo long knowing I had new knitting just waiting for me but eventually I got to the end of the day and started the toe (I'm doing the toe-up version) while I was waiting for Rob to finish work.
This is a new sort of toe for me. I usually use Judy's magic cast-on but this toe is worked in garter stitch so I thought it would be easier to do the provisional cast-on (learning!) and short-rows that are in the pattern. I'm about eight rows in (does that look like eight rows to you? Maybe it's nine) and it doesn't look like much yet. I think I'll spend the rest of my evening playing with happy orange yarn and see what I get.
