Here is another half complete project - my Hemp Lace Tank from LanaKnits. I’ve gotten used to working with the hemp (which feels remarkably like twine when you first touch it) and this project is now moving along at a nice pace. I’m four sets of increases past the waist - two to go. My tank top is about 6.5 inches long so I’ve got about 7.5 more to go before I start the straps. It should start to go a little faster in another twelve rounds since I wont have to keep track of any more increases.I really like the lace pattern down the front. It’s cute but not complicated and the stitches stand out nicely in the hemp. Decreases are a bit tough to work though since the yarn doesn’t have much stretch.
Here is the first of the Endpaper Mitts. It has actually been finished but for the thumb ribbing for over a month; I’ve been distracted by other projects. On Tuesday I realized that it was still not done and just sat down and knit the remaining seven or eight rounds. I had to look up the bind off instructions because it had been so long since I’d bound off the hand stitches.
I got a new book today. I even had a full stamp card so it didn’t cost as much as it said it would. I’ve looked at this book a few times but never got it because most of the stuff in it I can find somewhere else or do myself with some work.I finally decided to buy it because (a) it’s really handy to have a whole bunch of useful knowledge in one spot and not have to hunt around for it and (b) it’s kind of handy to have had someone else do all the hard work and just hand you what you need. I’ve also discovered that this book is full of little bits and pieces that really flesh out my sewing knowledge. It’s also very down to earth and enjoyable to read.
