These are some tulips we picked out at the grocery store on Saturday. I love the way they've opened up. We've got them sitting in the middle of the kitchen table where they are easy to see as we ...

No, it's not mould.

A while ago I put some cuttings from my African Violets in little pots of soil to see what would happen. I've been keeping an eye on them and giving them water whenever the pots felt dry. They seemed a little secure for leaves stuck in dirt and I was hopeful that something was happening but I didn't have any proof until last week.

One...

Rob said there was lots of frost on the car when we were getting ready for work so I grabbed my camera on my way out the door; I love the look of frost in the sunshine. These pictures are from spots along my walk to work.

<img src="https://inapeanutshell.com/images/63/DSCN0420.jpg" alt="DSCN0420.jpg" hsp...

My parents had been over and we'd showed them around our yard and talked about some of our ideas for it. After they left I'd watered and deadheaded my outside pots and remembered that a couple of my indoor plants needed deadheading too (they also needed a lot of water). I decided to tidy up the violets a bit after getting rid of the old f...

Neither of us had ever been there and it was a wonderful experience.

We spent a week on Cape Breton being immersed in Celtic and Acadian music. The range of accents was amazing - everything from French to the thickest Scottish with some Gaelic thrown in for good measure. We stayed in Baddeck - a beautiful little to...

I spent my lunch hour walking around enjoying the crisp air and sunshine. The trees were glowing with yellowed leaves and the lake was a ripply mirror reflecting their splendour.

When we woke up on Friday it was windy and the forecast was calling for snow. I spent my day watching the w...

The weather was lovely - sunny and warm with a bit of a breeze. We drove out about four o’clock and walked around and enjoyed the sun until it was time to start our fire for dinner. Hot dogs always taste best when you’ve cooked them yourself over a fire. We had all the regular condiments and Rob convi...
