The flu is in our house. Rob was home for the first three days of this week; we traded places Thursday morning. I didn't even manage to get out of bed this morning until my sister called and I had to answer the phone. When I did finally get up I realized that we were having a sunny day (and it was almost lunch time). It seamed a shame not to enjoy the sun when it was the only one in the forecast for the next week so after lunch I set up a couple of chairs and blankets on the deck outside, moved Abby's outdoor lead to a nearby railing and settled in for a sunny afternoon.


Abby got her lunch and then spent some time exploring her (slightly) new surroundings.


I enjoyed tea and a good book along with some hand knit and home quilted warmth, getting up only when required to untangle the dog from the house (she got stuck around a piling).


Eventually Abby was ready for some napping in the sun.

We stayed outside until the sun left the backyard.

Another finished knit. The opposite of the first one. I don't really have anything new to share about this pattern but I really liked my Washcloth As A Snail picture and wanted to share.

I finished this in the coffee shop waiting for Rob to finish work last Monday. I don't know why my darning needles were in my purse but it's a handy thing they were or this would be sitting in a pile somewhere waiting for me to get to it. Once I'd sewn in the ends I had nothing to do while I waited except mould my cloth into funny shapes and take pictures of it. Here's anothe picture of all the ends I snipped off.


I've got an entire ball of each colour left. I'm thinking of making a hand towel to match the two wash cloths. It would be a cute set for our spare bathroom. I could paint the walls to match (right now they are a pale peachy colour I don't really like - all the walls in our house are this colour - I have paint chips taped up all over the place).

These are wonderful leg warmers that suffered from an unusually bad case of procrastination. The knitting went very quickly but the finishing, blocking and photographing over a month to accomplish. The pattern is very nice and simple; there isn't any shaping to worry about and the little bit of ribbing and lace at either end of the stocking stitch are just enough to stop you from getting bored without being enough to stop you from enjoying the conversation. The only change I made was to knit from the bottom ribbed portion up to the lace instead of the other way around. The way the pattern is written your first stitch - the one that joins the round - is a yarn over; that seemed kind of silly to me so I went the other direction. I don't think anything suffered because of my change.


I plan to get plenty of use out of these this fall. I've been wanting to wear skirts but put off by the idea of chilly legs. Now, I've some extra defence. They work especially well when combined with tights.
