The Heat ArrivedPosted by Peanut in Summer , Miscellaneous , Green |
Today I wish I could photograph smells. We're having our first days of really hot weather (hot for us anyway) and everything smells delicious. The air is full of flowers and cut grass and water and earth. The humidity is up and the sun gets a pretty, hazy cast to it. Environment Canada suggested we have a thunderstorm today but so far it hasn't turned up.
I went for a walk this afternoon and was able to enjoy that lovely summer pleasure of becoming hot and then going inside to cool off. Several times today I've been tempted to take off my shoes and walk barefoot in the grass. The only time I was actually able to (I have a policy of not walking on other peoples lawns) was when we stopped by Rob's parent's place to harvest some of their enormous rhubarb plant; there will be stewed rhubarb on ice cream and maybe even a few of these yummy sounding drinks in our near future.
Right now I am trying to make a sundress - I'll report back if it works - and deciding if any of my pieces of summery fabric are large enough for the purse I want to make. I've been using the same purse since the winter and it just doesn't seem right to be carrying a wool bag around in this weather; something must be done ... but I still need to carry all my stuff.
