Our Christmas Quilt

I finished something this weekend. Rob gave me a fabulous gift and kept Abby with him for all of Saturday morning. I felt so liberated I almost didn't know what to do with my time. I did some useful stuff like the dishes and some tidying around the house and then I sat down and finished the binding on this quilt (you've seen it before here, here and here). I'll try to get a picture...

Last Monday we applied to the local SPCA to adopt one of four collie-cross puppies that were available. We waited tensely all week and on Friday evening we received a call back. Abby came home with us at lunch time today.

Everyone in our family has a stocking made from these patterns. Everyone ... aunts, uncles, cousins and spouses. Most of them were made by my grandmother. My sister got married last fall and wanted one for her husband but Darney isn't able to knit anymore. Jane asked me if I thought I'd be up to it. The sun came out today!

I didn't have my camera with me so I don't have a picture but after all the snow we've been getting it was fantastic to be walking around in the sun and I was late getting back to work after lunch because of it.

Another great thing today: The winter issue of Twist Collective is up and I can't stop looking at that coat!

We've been having a crazy amount of snow this year. This is our side deck. Two weeks ago today it had absolutely no snow on it. Now I'm not even sure where the steps are. This was dinner on Tuesday night. It was so yummy. I'd just finished shovelling all the snow off our porch (it was clear Monday night and as deep as my hand by the time we got home on Tuesday!) and I wanted something warm and filling and really, really easy.

No, it's not mould.

A while ago I put some cuttings from my African Violets in little pots of soil to see what would happen. I've been keeping an eye on them and giving them water whenever the pots felt dry. They seemed a little secure for leaves stuck in dirt and I was hopeful that something was happening but I didn't have any proof until last week.
