Our Christmas Quilt

Rob gave me a fabulous gift and kept Abby with him for all of Saturday morning. I felt so liberated I almost didn't know what to do with my time. I did some useful stuff like the dishes and some tidying around the house and then I sat down and finished the binding on this quilt (you've seen it before here, here and here). I'll try to get a picture...

We waited tensely all week and on Friday evening we received a call back. Abby came home with us at lunch time today.

She's very cute, as you can see, and very cuddly. Our first stop was the Pet Boutique (connected to the kennels) to get all our puppy essentials. It was l...

Work in Progress

A couple of weeks ago I woke up on a Saturday morning and really wanted to sew. Unfortunately I didn't really know what I wanted to sew or which fabrics I wanted to use. I walked into my studio to find inspiration and didn't. I found this instead:

Some of the boxes hold patterns, some hold fabrics, still others hold supplies for different crafts; all are carefully sorte...

Most of them were made by my grandmother. My sister got married last fall and wanted one for her husband but Darney isn't able to knit anymore. Jane asked me if I thought I'd be up to it. I got out my stocking and looked at how it is made: knit flat and seamed up ...

Oh Joy, Oh Bliss ...

The sun came out today!

I didn't have my camera with me so I don't have a picture but after all the snow we've been getting it was fantastic to be walking around in the sun and I was late getting back to work after lunch because of it.

Another great thing today: The winter issue of Twist Collective is up and I can't stop looking at that coat!

This is our side deck. Two weeks ago today it had absolutely no snow on it. Now I'm not even sure where the steps are. We've had even more snow since I took this picture. Thank heavens they ploughed our street on Sunday or we would never have gotten out of our driveway yesterday (as it was we still got stuck a few times getting hom...

Dinner (and what I did while it was cooking)

It was so yummy. I'd just finished shovelling all the snow off our porch (it was clear Monday night and as deep as my hand by the time we got home on Tuesday!) and I wanted something warm and filling and really, really easy.

The bread is a one-hour French bread recipe I found here. It's not quite as fluffy as a true French loaf but it&#...

No, it's not mould.

A while ago I put some cuttings from my African Violets in little pots of soil to see what would happen. I've been keeping an eye on them and giving them water whenever the pots felt dry. They seemed a little secure for leaves stuck in dirt and I was hopeful that something was happening but I didn't have any proof until last week.

One ...
